Toronto, ON – War Child Canada is pleased to announce that ArtBarrage.com will be presenting FreeHand, a unique contemporary art auction event in support of War Child.  Bidding is set to open online at Artbarrage.com on Saturday, October 1st, 2011.  FreeHand will feature up to 50 works of art from local and international artists in all media. Proceeds from the sale of auction pieces will benefit War Child, an award-winning charity that provides humanitarian assistance to war-affected children in some of the most devastated regions of the world. WAR CHILD PARTNERS WITH RIFFLANDIA FESTIVAL 2011 TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR CHILDREN

Toronto, ON - War Child is excited to partner with Rifflandia Festival once again this year, to host the second annual War Child Lounge.  Rifflandia Festival takes place in Victoria, B.C. from September 22nd- 25th, 2011.  As part of the festival, a uniquely designated War Child Lounge will be set up in Victoria’s beautiful new Atrium Building (800 Yates Street, Victoria, B.C.) on Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th from 11:00am-1:00pm.

WAR CHILD CANADA ANNOUNCE A SPECIAL BENEFIT CONCERT FEATURING TOMMY YOUNGSTEEN & THE MILLION DOLLAR

Toronto, ON - War Child Canada is excited to announce a very special benefit concert featuring the music of Tommy Youngsteen & The Million Dollar Band with Special Guest Adrian Grenier and friends, which will take place on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011 at one of Toronto’s newest culinary hot spots, The Bowery (55 Colborne Street, Toronto).  Doors open at 9:00 pm and the show will begin at 11:00 pm. JACKSON TRIGGS’ ROOTSTOCK 2011 TO BENEFIT WAR CHILD

War Child Chosen as Jackson Triggs’ “Charity of Choice” for Their 2011 Summer Amphitheatre Concert Series

Monday, July 4, 2011 – Toronto, ON – War Child is thrilled to partner with Jackson Triggs Niagara Estate Winery for their third annual ROOTSTOCK, which will take place on Sunday, August 28th, 2011 at the Jackson Triggs Amphitheatre (2145 Regional Road 55, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON).  Rootstock 2011 will be hosted by CTV’s Canada AM co-host Seamus O’Regan, and will feature a special evening of music and storytelling – this year with an East Coast flare – with Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea), John Mann (Spirit of the West), Kim Stockwood and Matthew Barber.  This year’s concert will support War Child Canada, an award-winning charity that provides humanitarian assistance to war-affected children in some of the most devastated regions of the world. War Child’s Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Samantha Nutt, will make a short presentation as part of the evening.

Thursday, June 30, 2011 – Toronto, ON  - Dr. Samantha Nutt, internationally renowned humanitarian and Founder & Executive Director of War Child Canada, has received the Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest civilian honours.  Dr. Nutt was appointed for her contributions to improving the plight of young people in the world’s worst conflict zones.

DAMIEN HIRST PAINTS GUITAR FOR WAR CHILD

Leading British artist Damien Hirst, whose bold works have set records in London’s auction houses, has painted a guitar using his celebrated ‘spin painting’ technique and donated the work to War Child.  The stunning guitar will be auctioned at Christie’s London (UK) showroom on 17th February 2011, as part of their Post-War & Contemporary Art Day, with all proceeds going to support War Child’s work.
