Toronto, ON – War Child Canada is pleased to announce that ArtBarrage.com will be presenting FreeHand, a unique contemporary art auction event in support of War Child.  Bidding is set to open online at Artbarrage.com on Saturday, October 1st, 2011.  FreeHand will feature up to 50 works of art from local and international artists in all media. Proceeds from the sale of auction pieces will benefit War Child, an award-winning charity that provides humanitarian assistance to war-affected children in some of the most devastated regions of the world. War Child Chosen as Jackson Triggs’ “Charity of Choice” for Their 2011 Summer Amphitheatre Concert Series

Monday, July 4, 2011 – Toronto, ON – War Child is thrilled to partner with Jackson Triggs Niagara Estate Winery for their third annual ROOTSTOCK, which will take place on Sunday, August 28th, 2011 at the Jackson Triggs Amphitheatre (2145 Regional Road 55, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON).  Rootstock 2011 will be hosted by CTV’s Canada AM co-host Seamus O’Regan, and will feature a special evening of music and storytelling – this year with an East Coast flare – with Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea), John Mann (Spirit of the West), Kim Stockwood and Matthew Barber.  This year’s concert will support War Child Canada, an award-winning charity that provides humanitarian assistance to war-affected children in some of the most devastated regions of the world. War Child’s Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Samantha Nutt, will make a short presentation as part of the evening.

DAMIEN HIRST PAINTS GUITAR FOR WAR CHILD

Leading British artist Damien Hirst, whose bold works have set records in London’s auction houses, has painted a guitar using his celebrated ‘spin painting’ technique and donated the work to War Child.  The stunning guitar will be auctioned at Christie’s London (UK) showroom on 17th February 2011, as part of their Post-War & Contemporary Art Day, with all proceeds going to support War Child’s work.
